Thursday, Baton Rouge

Great day. By the time the counseling was done we saw 39 professions of faith. We praise the Lord and thank you for your prayers! Keep it up.
Tomorrow we’ll head up to Yazoo City following our time with Parkview.

Blessings,
John

Family Night, Wed. Baton Rouge

Wow, what a day! Because of the day camp’s involvement in VBS we were not sure how many kids with families would show up. We had a great group of kids sing tonight. They were super and a number of the families were not members. So…..AMEN!

Please pray for tomorrow’s service. The leadership has chosen to use tomorrow for the salvation appeal as opposed to today which was on the schedule. So pray for clarity in the message as I present the gospel.
Blessings and thanks for the continued prayers!

Tuesday, Baton Rouge

Lots of energy in the place today. The younger kids (K-4th) numbered 253 today. We concentrated on learning music for family night tomorrow night. This church has done family night on Wednesday for several years to involve the usual Wednesday night crowd and that’s a good idea in and of itself but trying to learn new music in that short span is a daunting task. The kids are doing well, so we’ll see.
One of the songs for music class this year in the Lifeway (Saddle Ridge Ranch) stuff is a song entitled “Like Jesus”. In my opinion, one of the best songs Jeff Slaughter has written for VBS.
The last group I have for music class is 1st grade. When we finished, one little fellow raised his hand and said; “that song, “Like Jesus” makes me cry and big alligator tears showed up. I told him that listening to Jesus and wanting to be like him was the best thing he could do and to cry when singing that song to Him was just fine.
A really cool moment………
Thanks for the prayers,
john

Monday, Baton Rouge

Whew! Another “first day” in VBS. Crazy things but it worked out well. Enrollment of about 230 so far and lots and lots of energy.

My opening session involved K-4th graders. Parkview Baptist has separated the 5th-7th graders to do a special program set up for them.
Pray for strength. Vocally, I’m a bit tired but doing fine.
Thanks,
John

VBS Set Up

It was a good day of rest and focus as we moved in equipment this afternoon and got ready to kick off the day tomorrow morning.
VBS in Baton Rouge, LA. Sure to be a “hot” time!!
I’ll keep you posted so keep those prayers going!

Good Week, Yazoo

Thank you for the prayers. We wrapped up today and it was a good week. We didn’t see quite the enrollment or decisions that we wanted to see but a lot of seed was planted in the hearts and lives of the kids. My voice, after almost a month at home, became a bit edgy and hoarse but came right back about mid week.

Today Patty is driving her dad over for a P.E.T. scan to help the oncologist zero in on the necessary cancer areas. We are praying for divine healing and that no cancer will be found but God’s will first.

Tomorrow we head to Baton Rouge for another week of VBS. We appreciate your prayers. Safety in travel, vocal strength and lives changed. Parkview Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, LA.
Blessings,
John

Thursday, Yazoo VBS

Another good day in Bible School. The kids are picking up on the music and seem to be enjoying my “friends” as we teach the message of the day.
Now, it’s back to working around mom and dad’s to get some necessary things done around their house.

Patty is lining everything up for her dad to go to his P.E.T. scan tomorrow. Lot’s to do but it’s getting done one step at a time.

Thanks for the prayers.

Wednesday, Yazoo VBS

4 professions of faith today, PTL!! It was a great day. Attendance has picked up and the kids are having a great time.
Following the opening assembly today, I headed to a local day school to minister there as a rep of the children’s ministry here at FBC. About 50, 2,3, and 4 year olds! ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG! Oh, well. Fun day!
Thanks for the continued prayers. I’m able to get many things done for mom and dad in the fix it department and Patty has been able to help her dad get things in line for his upcoming chemo treatments.
Blessings,
John

Day One

It was a typical “1st day” at VBS. Lots of admin work to do and lots and lots of energy. It’s a primarily younger group so that presents some of it’s own issues but all in all a good start of the week.
Continue to pray for more kids and opportunities.

Blessings,
John

Good Start

It was a good day at FBC, Yazoo. It was kids day and the preschool and kids choirs sang then I had the platform. I played my horn, used The Professor, sang, and preached to the family.
God really moved as the altar filled and one came for profession of faith. That man was the brother of the children’s minister and many had been praying a long time. This was his first time in church but God had prepared him. Really a good story and a huge victory!!
We will begin early in the morning with a kickoff time of 8 a.m.
Thank you for your prayers!
John
