Sunday at Union Grove

Fun morning this morning at Union Grove Baptist Church just outside of Enterprise. We drove to the church yesterday to move in equipment and set things up then went over for Sunday School and church. I had just about the whole service after all the preliminaries and the people were receptive. Like, seemingly, many of our services, there was no response at the invitation but we know His Word doesn’t return void and I am thankful for the opportunity to be used.

This week will be spent in preparation for the uncoming schedule! Thanks for the prayers,
John

Sunday Forest, MS

It was a good day. Small, sweet fellowship. We had 38 in Sunday School today with quite a few more joining in worship. A little movement during the invitation was a blessing to see but many more mentioned how something I did in the midst of the service spoke to them so; to God be the glory!
The church set up chairs 90 chairs in their fellowship hall having invited other churches to the concert tonight. Good thing they did. There were 143 counted at one point. Lots of kids were brought and many adults without kids came on in support so it was a lot of fun.
Tomorrow I head home for a couple of weeks. Much needed rest and time at home. I’m looking forward to it!
Thanks for the prayers as I travel.
Blessings,
John

Safe Arrival, Forest, MS

Well, I pulled out of Yazoo at 2 p.m. to head to Forest, MS. I arrived at the hotel at 3:45, got checked in and headed out to the church to set up. Had a double set up. That doesn’t happen often and I’m kinda thankful. I set up for the morning service in the sanctuary with one set up and did a separate set in the fellowship hall. It will seat more and since they’ve asked area churches to join in for the concert tomorrow night. Thus the need for two set ups.
I appreciate the prayers. I’m tired. Been on the road for almost 2 weeks and starting to wear just a bit. I’ll keep you informed.
Blessings,
JOhn

Yazoo City, Saturday

This morning the plan is to get my things together and just visit. Of course we’ll watch a little basketball (particularly KY. Dad, born and raised there is a big fan) then I will pull out after lunch for Forest, MS, where I will be setting up for tomorrow’s services.

Thanks for keeping up with us!
John

Yazoo City, Friday

It’s been a day of getting things done for the parents today. Dad’s fence needed repairing, a drainage ditch cleared, and errands run. It’s 3 p.m. and it’s been completed, PTL!
I will complete my prep work for Sunday as well as for upcoming events.
Blessings,
John

Wednesday, Poplarville, MS

It was a good night and I appreciate the prayers. I did the entire service tonight and many responded during the invitation and I am so grateful for your prayers and encouragement.
I’ve loaded and arrived back at the place I’m staying. Tomorrow I will head to Yazoo City for a couple of days to check in on parents and do the odd jobs that come with the visit then on Saturday I will head to Forest, MS, to set up for Sundays events where I will be speaking in the a.m. service and doing a concert in the evening.
Patty has been in San Antonio ministering to my brother’s wife helping her recover from surgery. She will fly out tomorrow morning back to Panama City where a friend is scheduled to pick her up and get her home. Your prayers on her behalf would be appreciated.
Blessings,
John

Monday, Poplarville

The day began with the senior adult group, Keenagers. I brought a program to them that entertained but hopefully challenged them to continue to “run the race” set before them.
It was another interesting night. I managed to overcome the sound problems even though they were extremely evident. I’m tired, gang. I’m battling both on the spiritual level and the worldly level and it’s wearing.
Nevertheless, it was a good service although no response. I will spend tomorrow here at the place I’m staying and work on the upcoming weekend I have in Forest, MS.
I ask that you continue to lift up EVERY aspect of this meeting, from lives being changed to electronics.
Blessings,
John

Poplarville, MS, Sunday

A little bumpy start to the day. When I go into a church, I have two basic options I use with sound. One is to set my full system up and use it throughout the week. Other times, if the sound is pretty good, I will use my board and patch into the existing system then control my mix. Choosing to use the second of the two sets I moved the necessary equipment into the sanctuary Saturday night, got everything hooked up, then got the sound check. All good. Sunday began with instrumental rehearsal at 8:30. Again, things worked as expected. The service started at 10:30 so it’s all good. I rehearsed a horn piece and a vocal piece. At 10:27, the sound guy comes out of the booth to tell me he has had to make some changes because the gain was high on the guest preacher’s mike. Yes…the guest preacher’s mike. Not the channel I’m using but another. Bottom line, I managed to get through the service my adjusting on the fly having basically no sound when I first began. Everything worked out and the sound guy lived.
Folks, it’s tough to sing to Jesus when you want to kill the sound guy. I got up to the church at 4:15 this afternoon to redo the sound and get ready for the kids event at 5 which went really well, and the service at 6, also went well.
Thank you for the continued prayers.
Blessings,
John

Saturday, Mathews

It’s been quite a visit with friends in Mathews, LA. I think I’ve helped a bit but I lean more toward the thought that maybe my bud, knowing my heart and appreciation for all his work at my house, is just humoring me and could, in fact, do things twice as fast without my help. Kind of like when I get someone to “help” me break down equipment when they’ve never done it.
Nevertheless, it’s all good and a lot of work has been done. The plan now is to complete the tub/shower hook up, some tile work and crown molding. We’ll do what we can and I’ll be be pulling out for Poplarville, MS, around 2:30 to get there and set up my equipment for the revival services.
thanks for the continued prayers.

Progress in Mathews

It was a busy day here in Mathews, LA. We got the floor pretty much in and partially grouted. Tomorrow morning we will begin the installation of the tub and shower over the part we grouted today. After that’s done we’ll finish the rest of the floor and grout.
Thanks,
John
