It was a good night, gang. Late…..but good. Got a late start due to some unforseen circumstances but God spoke as we worshipped.
Today was a day filled with golf for some, motorcycle riding, and fishing for others. We will be heading out to eat in the next 20 minutes and then we will worship again.
Pray for safety tomorrow as everyone travels home after lunch!
Blessings,
John

Wednesday, Pontotoc
It was another great night at West Heights. The people are so gracious and receptive and it was a blessing being a part of God’s movement at West Heights Baptist Church.
The decision count for last nights effort was 22 professions of faith and tonight 2 more.
These past two revivals have been wonderful and we appreciate your prayers on our behalf.
Tomorrow we will pull out early to head toward home. Our next door neighbors are meeting us just south of Montgomery where I will drop Patty off and head across to Fort Gaines, GA, where I will be leading worship in the Hillcrest Men’s Retreat.
Thanks again for the prayers! You are a blessing,
John
Tuesday, Pontotoc
It was a great day. I was in South Pontotoc Elementary and I had around 600 to 700 kids. Awesome time! Tonight was kids night so at the hotdog supper Sparky talked and the kids were really responsive. At the service, a number of children came down during the invitation and I’m not sure if there wasn’t a parent or two making decisions.
At this writing, I don’t have a decision count at this time but it was a really good response and the counselors are very good.
Tomorow we’ll wrap things up. Pray that this upcoming service will finish strong!
Blessings,
John
Pontotoc, Monday
Wow! As the saying goes, God showed up and showed out!! After hitting the schools and handing out tickets to Youth NIght, nearly 500 students showed up for Pizza and the service. The sanctuary was packed as regular church members joined the chaos and a closed circuit broadcast was set up for others in the fellowship hall. When it was all said and done, those who made professions of faith numbered 102. It was a glorious night and we give God the glory.
Tomorrow is kids day so pray as we make contact with as many kids as possible and I give the program tomorrow night!
Blessings,
John
Sunday, Pontotoc
Ok, let me brag on God tonight. We saw 3 professions of faith, a new high attendance mark was set and the spirit of worship was wonderful and free at West Heights Baptist Church today. Dr. Jerry Pipes, a full time evangelist preached the word and many responded. Tomorrow the youth specialist of our team, Clarence Lee (a world record holder in bench press and all around strong man) will be in 4 different schools working the crowd to get them to come to the pizza supper and service. They are handing out 1500 tickets in hopes of packing the place out with lost teens. Pray for the efforts put forth tomorrow that the seed will be planted and God will use it for His glory.
This afternoon I received a phone call from the administrative pastor wanting directions to my mom and dads house in Yazoo City. He along with our chairman of deacons, had loaded 50 cases of water and had taken an exit offering (people are told of a concern and give as they exit the worship center) of $3200 to Yazoo City to aid in the tornado recovery efforts. This is one of many times that I have been “proud” (in a good way) of my church but this is so close to home, it was a real special blessing to have a church care so very much. Naturally, we have been concerned about our parents and their homes and being on the road as we are there is frustration in not being able to get there. Well, Dwayne (Admin. Pastor) and Ron (Deacon Chair) checked in on Patty’s folks and mine and we are overwhelmed at the care and love.
Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow!

Pontotoc, MS, Saturday
It’s been a very tiring and stressful day. We closed out services at Neshoba Baptist Church last night. There was a mix-up with the guest preacher and host pastor and he finished on Thursday when the revival was scheduled through friday so I handled the service last night.
Today we drove, trying to calculate breaks in the tremendous storms to come up to Pontotoc and in the meantime heard of the large devastating tornado in our home town of Yazoo City. It was very stressful having difficulty getting in touch with them but finally heard they were ok. It was very close to my mom and dads place but all is well. Patty’s folks are fine too but of course no electricity and only cell phones.
We were scheduled for a Block Party Kickoff to a crusade that begins tomorrow at West Heights Baptist so it was cancelled but we used that time to set up in the sanctuary for the coming services.
Pray for the people of Yazoo and pray for the lost in Pontotoc as we begin a very busy week.
God bless you friends,
John
Neshoba Update
Whew. I have finally gotten access to let you know how things are going. Pray for the choir, attendance, and that people would be responsive to the movement of the Spirit. The services have been going well but numbers are down. There was also a mix-up with the guest speaker so I am preaching on Friday night. Pray for His guidance.
The people seem somewhat down or discouraged for some reason so motivating the choir seems a bit difficult. The real dedicated are so very faithful so pray for those sitting in the pew that they will feel God’s impression to give back the gift given to them.
I’ll be in touch when I can. IN the meantime, pray!
Loading Up
It’s a lengthy week coming up. We will leave tomorrow (Sat) for Union, MS, and Neshoba Baptist Church. It will be a week of revival services, Sunday through Friday. I hope to be able to keep you updated during the week but not sure what the week holds.
You can pray for the church, Neshoba Baptist, it’s pastor, Bro. Johnny Collins, the guest speaker, Rev. Leon Dunn, the choir and me as we seek real revival.
I will be driving to Pontotoc, MS, following this revival for an area wide crusade held at West Heights Baptist Church.
Blessings,
John
Sunday, Hodge, LA
It was a really good day. There was a pretty good crowd at the church today although attendance was down in Sunday School according to the pastor.
He has a real desire to see his church vision minded and focused on their missional calling.
The people seemed responsive in both services and we are thankful to be used.
We’ll head home tomorrow so pray for safety. Its about a 9 1/2 hr drive for us so it will be somewhat of a long day.
Thanks for the prayers,
John
Saturday, Hodge, LA
Hi friends. Thanks for checking in. We headed to Yazoo on Friday for a short visit and check in with parents. Today about 1 p.m. we headed to Hodge. We allowed 3 1/2 hrs to get here and that’s just what it took. We planned on meeting the pastor at the church at 4:30 and he was waiting on us along with the sound guy. We unloaded and attempted to patch in to the house sound. This saves us much time and effort when it’s possible. The program was set for 6 p.m. and unfortunately, by 5:15 we abandoned that attempt after having difficulty matching up and moved in all my speakers and equipment. It was a rush job but was all in place about 10 minutes before the program was to start.
The pastor, as well as the few adults in attendance were very disappointed in the turnout. They had gone door to door to hand out flyers as well as adds in the local paper and posters around this small town. It had little effect on the children in the area and of course you can always blame lack of kids attendance on the parents. Anyway a total of about 20 tonight with 3 children. The adults tonight were very kind and were disappointed their efforts yielded such small numbers.
Pray for Hodge Baptist Church and its pastor, Rev. Norris Curry.
I’ll be doing both services tomorrow and will give you an wrap up tomorrow night.
Blessings,
John
