Arrived Home

Thank you for your prayers as we move forward. I returned home today to be present for services tomorrow and all the upcoming rehearsals we have for Hillcrests’ Living Christmas Tree program.
Patty will be staying with her dad for a few more days to help tie up loose ends. This will also give them some time to grieve together now that everyone else has returned to their homes. It was a bit of a difficult day for them, I was told when talkiing to Patty one of several times.
She plans on taking her dad to his chemo treatment on Wednesday then coming home on Thursday. Please remember her as this journey continues.
Blessings,
john

Patty’s Mom

Thanks for the prayers for mercy. Patty’s mom went to be with the Lord Saturday afternoon at 2:45. Very peaceful with family present and we are so grateful.
Thanks for the prayers as we tie up all the loose ends. We love you and are grateful for you.
Blessings,

Zion Chapel Senior Center, Thursday

It was a good night. I was running a little later than I wanted because of everything going on around here and the house but I got there still in time to set up all the equipment. There was a nice crowd, about 120 or so.

I’ll take a couple of days and try to get the house back in order, somewhat straighter before heading to Anniston, AL, on Sunday.

Blessings,
John

Just Checking In

Hi friends,
Just writing, knowing that you are so faithful to check and see if there’s any updated news on us and this ministry. Things are continuing with her mom as they are trying to keep her comfortable toward the end of her life. Patty has been blessed by the phone calls, cards, and texts and presses on doing whatever she can to minister to both her mom and dad.
Here at home, things have come to a bit of a standstill with the home repair. I’m waiting on a carpenter/cabinet guy to come and give an estimate on repairing my cabinets so the dishwasher is still unhooked and in the middle of the kitchen floor. Yesterday, the stove/oven decided to quit I guess out of jealously that the other side of the kitchen was getting all the attention. So……I am working today in trying to get it replaced. Unfortunately, it was not as a result of the water damage so this is on my dime. God is faithful!
I will head to a Senior Center in Jack, AL (about 35 min. away) to do a Thanksgiving program tomorrow evening.

We appreciate your prayers as we continuing fulfilling God’s plan.

Home Again

It was 1200 miles and ministry in 3 days but God worked through it all. I decided to drive to Yazoo City on Thursday after the ServPro guys moved their equipment out. I arrived in Yazoo in time to have dinner with Patty at the hospital. The doctor felt that he could get her in under the “guise” of dehydration although he still feels that we are looking at a week to 10 days before she passes. Patty is so very relieved that she is no longer the one handling all the nursing duties. The pressure on her was so intense and relentless. She said; “now I can just love on her and leave that stuff to the professionals”. She is staying with her at night.
After visiting a while, I headed to my folks to spend the night then headed to Eunice, LA (west of Lafayette) for Friday night and Saturday morning. We didn’t have as large a group as they have had in the past but it was a good group. Because of the ages 6-12, I did not have an altar call but put that on the individual counselors and kids workers from the various churches. Because of that I am not sure of any decisions but it was a good time. I loaded and headed home after having lunch and arrived home at 8:45.
Thanks for the prayers on our behalf. I’ll begin making preparations for a Senior Adult banquet on Thursday and a church wide Harvest Banquet on Sunday the 21st.
Blessings,
John

Travel day to Acadian Baptist Center (A.B.C.)

After talking with Patty yesterday morning and hearing of her mom’s increased poor health, I decided that unless they ServPro guys were taking out my cabinets (still waiting on insurance “go ahead”) I was going to drive to Yazoo City to see her, her mom, and my folks. I arrived around 6:30 pm and went to a local resturant to pick up dinner before heading to the hospital. Patty and her dad finally came to the place where they could no longer do everything themselves so hospice got with their doctor and were able to have Ms Shurley admitted in the local hospital. Patty is exhausted but I could hear the relief in her voice as she knew she was no longer “totally” responsible for her mom’s every need. She is staying in the hospital with her and all concerned feel she will be there until she leaves this life. (an estimated 7-10 days) We appreciate your prayers as we continue this stage of life.
I will head on down to Eunice, LA, today and begin the Fall Retreat for A.B.C. with grades 1-6. I will finish up there around noon tomorrow and, Lord willing, will head back to Enterprise.
Blessings,
John

Bethsalem, Monday

It was a good closing night and several professions of faith. The pastor said that all in all there were 15-20 decisions for Christ. We rejoice in that.
Monday was a pretty long day. I did 2 school programs as well as the evening stuff so moving the equipment and all got a little tiring but the staff was really helpful as they worked to make sure I had everything I needed.
I returned home to the ServPro guys and the clean up is continuing even saying that they are waiting on word from the insurance before they “tear out the cabinets”. Oh boy, here we go. The last word I had was that they were “cautiously optimistic” they would be able to keep the cabinets but as they’ve gotten in there they have seen more damage than first expected. We’ll see where this goes from here.
I’m preparing now for the weekend as well as holding down the household stuff while Patty continues to minister to her mom during these difficult days.
We appreciate your prayers and we attempt to finish this year’s ministry calendar strongly!
Blessings,
John

Bethsalem Baptist, Sunday p.m.

It was a pretty good day. Lots and lots of glitches leading up to the a.m. service that proved extremely frustrating for yours truly but things worked out ok and we got through the service.
The evening went much better. We had a family conference at 5 p.m. that had me with students and kids in one part of the building and Dr. Jerry Pipes with adults in the auditorium. At 6 we began the evening worship and had several professions of faith at the conclusion.
Pray for tomorrow. We will head to the schools to do character and choices programs hopefully baiting the kids to come tomorrow night. Pizza at the church at 6 and service at 6:30.
My plan right now is to head home tomorrow night following the service.
Blessings,
John

Clanton, AL

Well, I arrived safely to my hotel in Clanton and will head out to Bethsalem Baptist Church first thing in the morning to move in and set up the necessary equipment to begin revival services.
Pray for Bethsalem, that they will sense the urgency to draw close to Him and be obedient.
Blessings,
John

The Work Continues

The clean up of the broken water feed has continued today as I met with insurance and ServPro came in to get things done properly. It sure was painful watching them rip out the wood laminate flooring we worked so hard to put in last summer. Oh well, as the scripture teaches……wood, hay, and stubble.
I managed to finish my prep work for the upcoming 48 hr. revival held north of Montgomery in a little place called Billingsley, AL. Things are ready and I’ll be heading out tomorrow evening.
The ServPro rep told me to leave all fans going and maintain 70-80 degrees around the clock to help in the drying process. I’ll finish up the revival services Monday night and will head on back to be here Tuesday morning when they show up.
Thanks for your prayers.
John
