Tyler, Sunday

We arrived safely and moved in the equipment, set things up and now are geared up for VBS. This is a night school so I won’t be posting until 9 p.m. or so each evening.
Here’s the prayer request right now….this church is trying to develop a kids ministry and as of this writing, they don’t have a single child in the church. They have been advertising since March in various areas of the city and in different venues. Please join us in prayer that parents will take advantage of this opportunity and as a result that we have a good group of kids.

I’ll keep you informed and thanks for your continued prayers.

Saturday’s day of rest

It was a day to take it easy, wash a few clothes and get ready for next week. Of course I had to get my 4 miles in this morning but after that just odds and ends around the house then grilling supper for Patty, her dad, and some guests.
Now I’m back at the folks and getting a little visiting in before turning in for the night. We plan on pulling out of Yazoo around 9 a.m. for the 6 hour drive to Tyler. We are scheduled to get into the church around 3 p.m. to set everything up for VBS.
We appreciate your prayers for travel safety and God’s provision in all things.

Blessings,
John

VBS, Friday

It was a great week. We saw another child come to Christ and the attendance averaged 100 or so and the kids remained pumped throughout the week, participating in worship and doing all the motions to all the songs.
Well, we broke down the equipment, loaded up, and now are just hanging out a couple of days before heading to Tyler, TX, on Sunday to set up and start all over again.
Thank you for your continued prayers on our behalf. I’ll be in touch,

Blessings,
John

VBS, Thursday, Yazoo

Another good day as the kids continue to attend and bring a lot of energy to the place.
They seem to be responding to the music and participating in all activities. I got word that the pastor was counseling with several others today so we pray we’ll see more for the Kingdom. We had two more yesterday for a total of 3 thus far.

On the health side of things, I am continuing to try and diet along with exercise. Everyday, we finish at 11:30, I change clothes and head to the track for my 4 miles. I’m thankful for the strength and determination and pray God’s blessings on the effort.

Patty has been able to help her dad out through cleaning out closets and taking him to Jackson, MS, for eye appointment and followup.

Thank you for your continued prayers as we wrap things up tomorrow and load the equipment.

Blessings,
John

Wednesday, VBS

It was another good day with lots of energy in the kids. The numbers stayed up along with the excitement.

It was “decision day” today and there were several kids that will be followed up in the next couple of days and there was 1 definite profession of faith.

Patty has spent time cleaning out her mom’s closets to donate clothes. She wasn’t excited about that but her dad had been looking at everything for over 6 months so that was the plan. Overall she did great and got a lot accomplished. She drove her dad to Jackson today for a checkup.

Thanks for your prayers.

Day 2, VBS Yazoo

It was a good day as enrollment increased, the kids were fired up and there was no sign of “the virus”! Yeeee haww!

I’ve had some time to do some odd jobs around the folks house then a little exercise and rest. I appreciate the prayers and especially would ask that you remember tomorrow as that will be the day the main emphasis is salvation.

Blessings,
John

Another day….another virus!

Hi gang,

Well, it was a good start to VBS with over 100 kids so everyone was excited. The kids showed a lot of energy and things went as well as possible for a first day of VBS.

On the other side of things, just as I suspected, and I’m no expert by any stretch, when we put the newly cleaned jump drive into the presentation computer in the sanctuary, the nasty virus took over again and I found myself back at the computer repair store getting my computer and jump drive cleaned once again. Another 5 hour 15 min job.

The computer guy (church member) said he probably wouldn’t be getting by the church until some later time to clean that computer. So…….I am going to put each powerpoint presentation on a c.d. instead of getting my jump drive corrupted again.

Appreciate the prayers as we continue the work!

Blessings,
John

What a day……..

It began early as I got up, to “wake up” (coffee anybody?) and get to the church to get things ready for the service. I was playing a flugel piece that had a powerpoint presentation with it. The church’s computer would not read the 2007 PP file so it needed to be converted to a 97-2003 file. I didn’t have my computer with me to do it but the church secretary had it on her computer and we found out later that she had much more.

This afternoon while working on the opening day’s program for VBS, I plugged my jump drive in and a virus hit full bore making everything go stupid crazy! It was unbelievable. I called the church’s resident computer guy and we spent the better part of the afternoon and after church tonight but he was able to remove it and get things back up and running.

It was mentioned to the secretary at church tonight and she responded; “oh yeah, a warning comes up every morning and I just click on the “clean” button then just keep working. Wow, well, needless to say, glad everythings good.

Pray for the service tomorrow. Really want the first day to be strong and energetic so the kids will be excited and want to experience day two!

Blessings,
John

Back on the Road

Hey, thanks for checking in. I know you’ve been by here faithfully wondering how in the world you could possibly pray for us when there’s no word to what’s going on and where we are.

Most of you are aware that we’ve been off the road for a month and that’s been good and has allowed me to lose some weight and ready myself for the summer schedule. Now, we’re on the road again and looking forward to what God is going to do.

We drove to Yazoo City yesterday and set up our sound for the week of VBS. I will have the message time tomorrow then will begin bright and early on Monday morning.

Thanks for the prayers as we begin this season of ministry!
Blessings,
John
