We sure appreciate your love and interest in this ministry to continue checking in on us even though you find nothing new for days. All in all I’ve tried to do better but this current situation has been out of my control. We have no internet access this weekend so Patty and I just “tiptoed” out of the camp and found a McDonald’s about 4 miles away to blog to you today.
We arrived at the camp pretty much on time this past Wednesday. There are 54 kids, primarily 3rd-5th graders, so there is a lot of energy with the group and although most haven’t been to a kids camp before and thus have the usual behavioral issues, they have been relatively responsive and overall respectful during our worship times.
Yesterday afternoon a bus full of youth pulled into the parking lot of the State Park Hotel where we are staying. You guessed it…….a youth camp is now going on in the same facilities where we are attempting to rest. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
It was well after 1 a.m. before things remotely settled. We knew we were in trouble when we happened to be outside when they drove up and after talking with the student pastor responsible for the group, he apologized in advance. His advanced apology meant little early this morning.
All the services are pointed in one direction. The decision service tonight. Please pray. Pray for the kids’ hearts, their attentiveness, and response to the word. In an outdoor pavilion worship center (yes, it is very hot) there are many distractions such as heat, fatigue, bugs, and even the occasional bat! YES BAT! Pray that God will show Himself in a great way!
Tomorrow we will wrap up with a 9:30 a.m. challenge then head to Mathews, LA, for Sunday services.
Thank you again for checking in. Lord willing, I will be able to blog about tonight’s service when I get to Mathews tomorrow afternoon.
Blessings,
John
