Ok, let me brag on God tonight. We saw 3 professions of faith, a new high attendance mark was set and the spirit of worship was wonderful and free at West Heights Baptist Church today. Dr. Jerry Pipes, a full time evangelist preached the word and many responded. Tomorrow the youth specialist of our team, Clarence Lee (a world record holder in bench press and all around strong man) will be in 4 different schools working the crowd to get them to come to the pizza supper and service. They are handing out 1500 tickets in hopes of packing the place out with lost teens. Pray for the efforts put forth tomorrow that the seed will be planted and God will use it for His glory.
This afternoon I received a phone call from the administrative pastor wanting directions to my mom and dads house in Yazoo City. He along with our chairman of deacons, had loaded 50 cases of water and had taken an exit offering (people are told of a concern and give as they exit the worship center) of $3200 to Yazoo City to aid in the tornado recovery efforts. This is one of many times that I have been “proud” (in a good way) of my church but this is so close to home, it was a real special blessing to have a church care so very much. Naturally, we have been concerned about our parents and their homes and being on the road as we are there is frustration in not being able to get there. Well, Dwayne (Admin. Pastor) and Ron (Deacon Chair) checked in on Patty’s folks and mine and we are overwhelmed at the care and love.
Praise the Lord from whom all blessings flow!
John
