Monday, Gates Baptist

It was a good night with a sweet spirit. There was no movement but the people were receptive and we trust His Word will not return void.

Patty talked with her dad this afternoon and he didn’t sound good at all. He was unable to put together a coherent sentence and, naturally, we became very concerned. Patty called the Home Health, I called one of the ministers of the church, and then the next door neighbor’s son ( a classmate of Patty) called her just to touch base and get a phone number from her. As God would do things, he was visiting his mother next door to her dad. He went to check on him.

He was running a fever of almost 103. He is in the hospital running test right now and so he’s in the best hands. We are not sure exactly what we are going to do at this point. We would appreciate the prayers as we decide what we need to do.

Blessings,
John

Really Good Start in Gates

There was a strong movement of the Spirit today as revival services began at Gates Baptist. We had some movement this morning as I challenged the church to be radical in their faith and obedience! Tonight’s service shared tears with some as I spoke on being a Christian in Crete, based in Titus 1.
The church has a new pastor as of March 11, after 20 months without so you can imagine the excitement. He and his young wife have a lot of plans and a heart for the people of this area and I feel God has given Pstor Chad a great vision for Gates Baptist Church.
We appreciate your prayers as we continue this work.

Blessings,
John

Arrival

Wow, it was a crazy day of travel. Friday 13th! Arrrrrgg. We have made it to Halls, TN, after a 9 hr drive. We have had dinner with some friends and now some chill time before hitting bed.
Tomorrow we’ll head to the church to move in our equipment!

Thanks for the prayers!
John

TN Bound

After a couple of action packed (really busy prep) days at home we find ourselves packing suitcases and preparing for the days journey to Gates, TN, where we will set up on Saturday and begin revival services on Sunday at Gates Baptist Church.
We have been with this church for 12 years now and have established many wonderful friendships there. We will leave there on Thursday and drive to Yazoo City where we will layover until heading out to the next revival meeting on Saturday, 21st.
Lots of ground to cover the next 3 Sundays so your prayers would be appreciated.
Pray for hearts to be opened and receptive, safety in travel and Gods provision in all things! I’ll be posting, Lord willing, each evening.
Blessings,
John

Home for a bit!

We arrived home this afternoon about 4:30. I had made the decision that since this was a going to be a quick in and out, that I would need to get the yard done this evening. So, with a quick unload of luggage and such, I grabbed the mower to knock it out. It’s always good to get it done knowing that I can now begin the final preparations for my upcoming revival meeting in TN. I’ll be doing the music and preaching for this meeting so you can see why I needed to get these other things as soon as possible.
So, here it is. I will be a “house hermit” for the next couple of days then we will pull out on Friday and head to TN.
I sure appreciate your prayers as I put together my series of sermons, that I will give the people exactly what God wants them to hear.

Blessings,.
John

Easter

A little surreal as we spent our first holiday without dad. Appropriate, I suppose, that it is Easter. Patty and her dad joined mom and I on the pew during the service then over to the house for lunch.
My sister and her family drove over from Clinton to share in the meal. Everything was so good and we are blessed.
I pray your day has been blessed,
John

Yazoo

We arrived in Yazoo City at 4 p.m. after an extremely successful Egg Gathering in Tuscaloosa, ha ha. It was well attended and things went well.
I’m with mom and Patty is with her dad. We’ll all be in church in the morning then over here for Easter lunch.
Lord willing, we’ll be heading home on Tuesday.
John

Set up and Ready

We arrived in T-Town late this afternoon and went straight to the church to move in equipment and set up for tomorrow’s event.
Everything kicks off at 10 a.m. with my program and some door prizes then the big egg hunt.
We will stick around after loading to have lunch before heading to Yazoo City for Easter!
We pray you and your family have a blessed Easter!

“On the Road Again”

It’s been a busy week as preparations for upcoming ministry opportunities continued.
We did manage a little “off” time that I spent on the golf course and Patty spent with friends shopping a bit and sharing a lunch or two.
Tomorrow we head to Tuscaloosa to set equipment for a Saturday morning Egg Hunt with the Kids Ministry at Valleyview Baptist Church.
Following that Saturday event we will be driving to Yazoo City to spend Easter with mom. Overall she is doing as well as one could expect and is looking forward to our visit.
Lord willing, we will return home on Tuesday. Glad we have some folks taking care of the house during our absence.
Sure appreciate the prayers!

Home!

Weird weekend, gang. Consisted of a torrential downpour accompanied by a “never say die” attitude of a kids minister that had me do a 50 min presentation to 2nd old – 4th grade while 1000’s of little Multi colored eggs are picked up and then hid again but this time inside the walls of the church. Ignore the storm sirens, we’ve got eggs to gather!!!
After loading, we headed to north MS, driving through a nice amount of the heavy rain. We had just a little trouble finding the little church but we arrived around 5 p.m. and the pastor met us. After setting up we were led to the cabin we stayed the night in then drove to the nearest town (10 miles away) and got a bite to eat. I preached this morning then after dinner on the ground I did a spot for the kids before their egg hunt.
Glad to be home now with a busy week ahead. Sure appreciate the prayers,
John
